Boy racers with exhausts that 'pop, bang and crackle' are grinding my gears this week

"I really don't see the attraction. Almost as much as those hideous eyelashes some people choose to put on their headlights"

We've all been there right? Strolling down the pavement when suddenly BANG!

Some idiot boy racer drives past in a ridiculously souped-up old banger - back in the day it might have been a Nova but these days it's more likely to be a Clio or a Golf - with one of those stupid exhausts that sounds like it's exploding every five seconds.

I really don't see the attraction. Almost as much as those hideous eyelashes some people choose to put on their headlights. Really?! They look utterly ridiculous and are arguably a hazard.

According to YourCar: "Exhaust pops are a popular modification for many car enthusiasts and they are certain to put a smile on your face. Whether you own a naturally aspirated, turbo or supercharged petrol car, you will be able to make your exhaust pop."

What do you think about noisy exhausts? Have your say in the comments

It might put a smile on the boy racer's face, although I would question their sanity if they do, but you can guarantee anyone they drive past won't be grinning. More like grimacing as they struggle to avoid having a heart attack.

In their conclusion at least YourCar admits that "an exhaust that pops isn’t to everyone’s taste". But they then add: "As long as your car isn’t producing a firework display out the back, a moderate exhaust pop is a great modification."

As the RAC rightly points out: "Big noisy exhausts, sporty spoilers and booming subwoofers… one driver’s dream machine is another’s breach of the peace." You said it.

Their article adds: "Most big-bore and sports exhausts are not legal on public roads in the UK due to their excessive noise levels and extra emissions. Drivers caught with an excessively noisy exhaust may receive an on-the-spot fine of £50, and could have their car taken off the road until the offending exhaust is removed."

I can think of several other items belonging to the offending boy racer which should be removed. But I'll let you use your imagination as to what I'm referring to!
